El Centro de Amistad attended this year’s California Charter School Conference in March 2023 in Sacramento, California. The team representing ECDA at Sacramento included our Associate Director, Tania Fallert-Del Gatto, IECMH Program Manager, Maria G. Williams, and our Child Therapists, Alina Gonzalez, and Alexis Cabrera.
Our staff showcased all the services ECDA provides to the community which included our therapeutic services, mental health consultation, reflective group facilitation, and training for mental health professionals, school staff, and the community.
Additionally, the team presented at a breakout session providing information related to equitable student culture to the attendees. The presentation was entitled Mental Health and the Aftermath of COVID.
The session provided information on the mental health findings of students between the ages of 5 to 17 pre and post-COVID pandemic. Attendees were able to learn how the pandemic has affected students’ mental health, signs to look out for, and strategies to support students’ socio-emotional needs. Attendees were encouraged to increase their emotional awareness states to build the capacity to respond effectively in supportive ways to their students.
ECDA would like to thank the team for their contribution and commitment to continue educating and support the community at large. Thank you, Alina Gonzalez, Alexis Cabrera, Maria Williams, and Tania Fallert-Del Gatto for representing ECDA. Thank you, Carmen Solorio, for your support in preparation for the conference!
