El Centro de Amistad’s Information System (IS) Department is an administrative team that focuses on clinical billing, data entry, electronic health system, medical eligibility and report generation to name a few. The IS department provides trainings and works closely with El Centro’s Intake and Quality Assurance departments to provide support to the Agency’s clinical team. They are also the point team between El Centro de Amistad and our third-party IT company for any technical assistance.
Carla Espinoza-Baires serves as our IS department supervisor. Carla has been with El Centro de Amistad for seven years and was initially employed as IS Assistant. “My time with El Centro has been an incredible experience. I have learned so much from my coworkers, my team and my management colleagues throughout the years. As a supervisor, I enjoy our leadership trainings that help me recognize my strengths and bring my best self to my team and the office,” said Carla.
Carla supervises a team of three, Cindy Martinez, Luz Arellano-Ponciano, and Adriana Bonilla Perez; all whom share the agency’s mission and vision of “Empowering lives today for a better tomorrow.” The IS team has proven to be dedicated, reliable, organized and professional. “We work well together, complement each other and bring each other’s strengths and gifts to the team” states Carla. The IS team supports our San Fernando, Topanga, and Canoga Park offices, assisting with client information, data entry, and technical staff support.
Given our current circumstances with the pandemic and our “Safe at Home” order, El Centro de Amistad has had to adapt to a new working environment. The IS Department has been front and center with various technological projects needed to maintain operations. Thanks to this amazing team, El Centro de Amistad has been able to secure telehealth platforms to conduct individual sessions with our clients via web conferencing in a short time. The team has also established a platform for our staff to facilitate virtual classes and group therapy for our clients and the community at large. “Our goal as a department is to continue to provide support to El Centro de Amistad’s mission and vision,” states Carla.
