This holiday season, El Centro de Amistad was proud to bring hope, nourishment, and joy to hundreds of families across the San Fernando Valley through two of our most meaningful annual traditions, our Thanksgiving Distribution and Adopt-A-Family Christmas Program.
On Saturday, November 22, our community came together for a successful Thanksgiving Distribution that served 120 families. Thanks to the generous and longstanding support of SLTG, LLP Certified Public Accountants, Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez of the 7th District, and the Perez Family, each household received a bag filled with essential non-perishable food items along with a gift card to a local supermarket, helping families prepare a secure, nourishing holiday meal for their loved ones. For many, this support eased financial stress and allowed families to focus on what truly matters: being together.
Just a few weeks later, on Saturday, December 20, the spirit of the season continued with our Annual Adopt-A-Family Christmas Program, which supported 220 individuals. Families were welcomed with smiles, festive cheer, and a very special visit from Santa and his elves, who helped distribute gifts and bring holiday magic to children and caregivers alike. The event was filled with laughter, excitement, and heartfelt moments as families received thoughtfully selected gifts made just for them.
We are deeply grateful to SLTG, LLP, Kaiser Permanente, and their OBGYN Team, My Stuff Bags Foundation, and our many dedicated community supporters who adopted families and donated gifts. Their generosity made it possible for every family to feel seen, valued, and celebrated during the holidays.
We are also proud to share that proceeds from our annual Golf Tournament helped us adopt additional families this season, expanding the reach of our holiday programs and ensuring even more individuals received the support they needed. These funds also help sustain our upcoming golf tournament, allowing us to continue providing secure meals, gifts, and basic necessities to families facing hardship throughout the year.
We welcome individuals and organizations interested in partnering with us through future fundraisers, sponsorships, or community giving opportunities. For more information, please contact Flaviola Garcia, Community Relations Supervisor, at flaviola.g@ecda.org or (818) 898-0223.
Together, we are creating brighter holidays—and stronger communities—one family at a time.
