Join El Centro de Amistad for an enriching two-day virtual experience at our upcoming 2025 conference: “Building Bridges: Supporting Children Through Transdisciplinary Work,” scheduled for May 14th and 15th from 9 am to 12 pm PST.
This year’s two-day conference will offer an insightful and interactive event focused on the importance of Transdisciplinary Work in supporting children’s growth and development. Learn how Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists contribute when working with children. Our 2025 conference offers a comprehensive exploration of essential topics, including:
- Understanding the contributions of Occupational Therapists (OTs) to understanding how early experiences influence sensory integration, a key part of development. Participants will learn to connect clients’ past experiences and current behaviors with their sensory functioning. Through lectures, case examples, and reflection, the training will help attendees understand how trauma may affect sensory processing. It also offers tools for identifying sensory challenges, knowing when to refer clients to an occupational therapist, and integrating sensory strategies into their own clinical work.
- Exploring the role of Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) to understand the importance of supporting children’s speech, language, and communication as vital to their overall development, academic success, and emotional well-being. It promotes a whole-child approach, guiding professionals and families in recognizing and addressing communication needs. Attendees will learn about developmental milestones, common delays and disorders, and the impact of communication challenges on mental health and behavior. The session also covers topics like bilingualism, post-COVID socialization, and when to refer to a speech-language pathologist. Practical strategies and resources will be shared to support inclusive, early intervention across diverse communities.
- The round table of experts will include Mental health professionals, SLPs, and Educators to offer a real-world experience of the benefits of working together to streamline care, reduce treatment gaps, and enhance coordination across different healthcare settings.
